To search 4grabs, one enters a word or phrase into the center-screen search window—just like on more familiar websites. What happens next distinguishes 4grabs from the rest; the searcher provides an address or drags a cursor over a provided map to pinpoint his or her location. Upon clicking “search,” results appear in order of geographical proximity to the search point, eliminating useless results. There might not be a match for a particular search in Santa Cruz, but there could be one in, say, Montreal and another in Zimbabwe. 4grabs will produce these results and provide the exact distance between you and the findings. In other cases—like if you’re searching for a wetsuit for sale or a dog walker for hire—there could be a thousand or more potential matches, but 4grabs will show only the 50 nearest to you.
