It used to be somewhat tricky to change your Twitter Id and keep your followers. Many people thought you had to start from scratch with a new Twitter Id. (However, even back then there was a way to work around that limitation and keep your followers. One of my more popular blogs was all about how to do just that.)
NOW, however, you can just log into your Twitter Account, select Settings > Account, enter your new id, Save, and — Voila — if the new id you want is available, it’s yours. It’s that simple.
According to Twitter:
Change your Twitter user name anytime without affecting your existing tweets, @replies, direct messages, or other data. After changing it, make sure to let your followers know so you’ll continue receiving all of your messages with your new user name.
Thanks, Twitter!
